Study in China

Asia’s top-ranked universities. One of the biggest scholarship programmes for Pakistani students. English-taught master’s and PhDs. Low living costs. A warm welcome from a close friend of Pakistan. Ready to study in China from Pakistan? Unity Consultants guides your CSC application and X1 visa.

To study in China from Pakistan, you need an X1 student visa. Your university sends you an admission notice and a JW201 or JW202 form. JW201 is for scholarship students. JW202 is for self-funded students.

You use these papers to apply for your China student visa from Pakistan at the Chinese Embassy or a visa centre. Within 30 days of arriving, you turn your X1 visa into a residence permit. Your university’s international office helps you with this step.

Part-time work and internships need approval from your university and the immigration office. China has no general post-study work visa. To stay on, you need a job offer and a work permit.

Tab 2: Cost of Living

China is affordable for students. Most live on CNY 2,500–4,500 a month. Campus dormitories and canteens keep costs low. Wuhan, Xi’an, Chengdu and Nanjing offer great value.

Daily life runs on your phone. Set up WeChat Pay or Alipay when you arrive. Both now work with foreign cards.

Food (campus canteens and halal restaurants) 1,000–1,800
Transport 100–200

Key Facts

  • Tuition: self-funded degrees usually cost about CNY 26,000–60,000 a year. MBBS and some master’s cost more.
  • CSC scholarship: covers tuition, housing, medical insurance and a monthly stipend.
  • University scholarships: many universities give full or partial awards to strong self-funded students.

Chinese Government Scholarship for Pakistani students: there are two routes. On the HEC route, HEC usually announces the call in November–December, with a deadline in early January. On the university route, you apply directly, mostly from February to April. For the CSC scholarship 2027, start your documents in autumn 2026.

China’s main intake is September. A smaller intake starts in March. Scholarship deadlines come much earlier than self-funded ones, so plan a year ahead.
