Many students who search to study in Cyprus from Pakistan are really looking at North Cyprus. Know the difference first. The Republic of Cyprus in the south is in the EU. North Cyprus is run separately, recognised only by Türkiye, and is not in the EU or Schengen.

Pakistani students usually need a North Cyprus student visa or entry approval, arranged through the university after acceptance. You then fly via Istanbul to Ercan Airport. To study in North Cyprus from Pakistan, you then register at your university and apply online for a student residence permit within two months.

You can work part-time only with a student work permit. Your employer applies for it once you have a job offer. Jobs are limited and pay is low, so don’t count on work to cover your fees.

Student Residence Permit Key Facts

  • Timing: register and apply within 2 months of arriving.
  • Renewal: renew your permit every semester.
  • Health report: done at approved centres in North Cyprus.
  • Travel: fly via Istanbul; check Türkiye transit rules with your airline.
  • No access to the south: only EU passport holders can cross freely.
